METALITY - EXTREME.NICE.PEOPLE

Metality

Yesterday I went to Bremen for my first chapter meeting and I met with four extreme.nice.people from the Bremen Chapter of METALITY. I joined METALITY in December last year and the meeting yesterday is a perfect reason to write about this wonderful metal community.

I became aware of METALITY through one of their main projects: BLACK DOG. The BLACK DOG project strives to create awareness about depression. I've been suffering from depression for many years and I know from personal experience that there are still many misconceptions and it is sometimes hard not to be stigmatised for it. It is hard to get the help and support one would need and awareness in our society is still not the way it should be. Listening to music, listening to metal in particular is an outlet for feelings that have been bottled up and more than one metalhead out there feels that metal gives you power to plough ahead through life.

The BLACK DOG is a symbol for depression and the wristbands handed out by METALITY show awareness and willingness to support and be informed. I got my wristband yesterday and will be wearing it proudly now. I've got some more to hand out. If you are interested, let me know!

Other funding projects from METALITY are:

And if that is not enough, there is still the other fun stuff like online beer tastings with special guests and local chapter meetings. METALITY strives to become the loudest network worldwide, uniting metalheads, supporting each other and sharing the values of metal.
