The other day, I received a small package from the UK. It was from Chris Harris, ex-guitarist of the band APRIL 16TH. What a pleasant surprise! The band I'm writing about today has popped up in my metal research so often and has been quoted as highly influential by so many artists, there is no way around it. During the NWOBHM many many bands came up and contributed with demos, singles and individually produced albums. By the mid 1980s the movement of glam metal ended the NWOBHM and only a few bands managed to come out of it. One of the bands that had its roots in the NWOBHM, outlasted it and is still one of the most popular heavy metal bands today is Iron Maiden. The band has released 17 studio albums and numerous singles between 1980 and 2021.

I'm staying in the era of NWOBHM for a little while longer. Especially within my research of Motörhead I came across one band name that was mentioned frequently: Girlschool. Formed in 1978 Girlschool was another band that came up with so many other bands during the NWOBHM.
