86 days till W:O:A 2023. Ah! What's not to love about this band. Who's been reading my blog knows I am a big sucker for glam metal. Blackie Lawless is still one of my favourite vocalists and seeing his white overknee leather boots being reincarnated into a younger band is just fucking great.
Skid Row

I am still listening to bands from the mid 80s and today's article is about Skid Row. When I was watching Metal Evolution Skid Row vocalist Sebastian Bach featured in some interviews and he was soooo familiar. But I could not place him. Only when researching Skid Row the last couple of days I was able to match his face. Sebastian Bach played Gil from Gilmore Girls from 2003 - 2007. Gil was a character I absolutely loved on the show, so it was not difficult to open up to Skid Row, it felt a bit...

This article has been sitting on my desk for nearly three weeks now. I guess I'll have to change my approach to writing my articles altogether as I've been going down a rabbit hole. I've been reading and reading and listening to album after album. "If you listen to A then you have to listen to B because they were a huge influence and then again there is C which pioneered the genre" and so on... I've been all over the place. After writing about Mötley Crüe and Poison I've actually intended to...
Poison

The first time I've ever heard the name of Bret Michaels must have been around 2007 when I was in my early twenties. I am talking about the legendary MTV reality show Rock of Love. I used to watch it thinking "Who is that guy? What is he wearing? And why on earth are all those girls so obsessed with him?!" Rock of Love featured Bret Michaels in his mid-forties (!) "looking for his one true love" among 25 contestants who have apparently all been fans of him "their whole lives" which could not...

Mötley Crüe
Glam Metal · 15/01/2022
I am now leaving Great Britain and the NWOBHM behind and have arrived at the Sunset Strip in California in 1981. In 1981 the band Mötley Crüe was formed in Los Angeles by Nikki Sixx (bass), Tommy Lee (drums), Mick Mars (guitar) and Vince Neil (vocals) and they were to become one of the most scandalous and hedonistic bands around. Apart from the years 1992 - 1996 when Vince Neil was replaced on vocals by John Corabi for a short time and 1999 - 2004 when Tommy Lee had left the band, Mötley...
Def Leppard

I am reaaaaaally excited about this blog article as it means I am about to leave the NWOBHM and progress into another subgenre altogether which I guess will be super fun: Glam Metal or Hair Metal. Def Leppard is the perfect band to pick when looking for a bridge between those two genres. So far I've been acquainting myself with the early metal of Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Rainbow and I've listened to a lot of music from the NWOBHM, feeling quite at home in this genre to be honest. I've...
