Live - Samael & Diabolical in Berlin
In The Pit · 29/09/2022
It's been one week since my first metal concert and I am still feeling pumped. Chris and I went to see Samael and Diabolical live in Berlin September 23rd, my birthday present to Chris this year. Samael was one of the first metal bands I've been introduced to back in 2004 when Chris and I met. The 1999 album Eternal was played frequently and The Cross was one of our favourite songs. So when I saw that Samael was touring their 1996 album Passage this year in September and October, I jumped on...
Dimmu Borgir - Enthrone Darkness Triumphant

After Cradle of Filth's Midian totally blew my mind, Dimmu Borgir was only a stone's throw away. Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir are probably two of the most disputed black metal bands, dismissed and scorned by die-hard black metal fans and vastly successful with the general public. But I've found yet another "black metal" band I am absolutely celebrating. I am talking about Cradle of Filth and especially their fourth studio album Midian (2000), which was by chance the first album of the band that I played. And I've played it on repeat for the last couple of days. Have been listening to it in the car, on my headphones...
Samael - Blood Ritual

Today I am writing about one of the few metal bands I've actually known before starting my journey into becoming the most annoying metal nerd around: Samael. I've known the mini album Exodus (1998) and their fifth studio album Eternal (1999) as well as Xytras' version of Passage (1997) from my husband's CD collection. Samael was one of the metal bands I could enjoy listening to, probably because the symphonic elements made the music more approachable for non-metal fans like me. While I was...
